Friday, May 18 - Sunday, May 20 - USPA Coach Course w/ Mike Hawley Minimize
The USPA Coach Course is designed to teach effective methods for training adults to skydive. A USPA Coach may teach the non-method-specific portions of the skydiving first-jump course, and all skills in categories F – H (except for the canopy control drills). It is the first step towards becoming an Instructor.

To earn the rating candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a current USPA membership, have earned a USPA B license or the FAI equivalent, have at least 100 jumps, must complete the USPA Coach proficiency card, and satisfactorily complete a USPA Coach Course. You will need to bring your USPA membership card, proficiency card, and logs to the course.

The USPA Instructional Rating Manual provides the course outline, study material, and detailed information on preparing for the Coach Rating Course. You will need a Skydiver Information Manual to study. Be sure you have the current (2011 or newer) editions and bring them to the course.

Course cost: $200 to the Coach Examiner, plus you will pay for your own, examiner, and videographer slots, and any videographer fees. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required to register for the course - this is part of the $200 course fee. Once you have made your deposit I will provide additional tips and guidance to help you prepare for the course. You pay your rating fee directly to USPA.

Schedule: the course will last three days given jumpable weather. The course will include both ground and air instruction and practice. We will begin with practice scenarios, progressing to ground and air evaluations as the candidates are ready. If weather gets in the way we can schedule evaluations outside of the course dates.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Take a look at the IRM Coach section first though…it will answer most of your questions.

Monday, June 18 - Sunday, June 24 - AFF Instructor Rating Course w/ Mike Hawley Minimize
The Accelerated Freefall Instructor Course (AFFIRC) is designed to train and evaluate you as you earn the USPA AFF Instructor rating. The course consists of classroom instruction, ground and air practice scenarios, a written test, and ground and air evaluations.

To earn the AFFI rating you must have a current USPA membership, be at least 18 years old, hold or have held a USPA instructional rating, have a USPA C license or FAI equivalent, have documentation of six hours of freefall time (log(s) or USPA freefall award), complete the AFFIRC Proficiency Card, and successfully complete the AFFIRC. The candidate should complete the open-book General and AFF Instructor Exams (in the back of the IRM) and bring them to the course for scoring. If you have fewer than 500 jumps, you must have held a USPA Coach or Instructor rating for at least 12 months.

FEES: $500 course fee covers classroom instruction, and Instructor Examiner and Evaluator's fees. A $100 non-refundable deposit (part of the $500) will secure a slot in the class and get you additional study materials before the course. Candidates will pay for their own and evaluator slots and videos as needed. Candidates pay their rating fee to USPA when they send in their completed Proficiency Card.

COURSE MATERIALS: bring a current Skydiver Information Manual (SIM) and Instructional Rating Manual (IRM) (2011 or newer). When you make your deposit I will send you additional study materials and tips.

RECOMMENDED: jumpsuit(s) which will assist a wide fall-rate range, hard helmet, audible altimeter (in addition to usual visible one). No kidding…DRESS FOR SUCCESS!

SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS: Day 1 Overview/ISP A-C/Cat C ground & air demo/practice, Day 2 Cat C practice, Day 3 ISP D/CAT D ground & air demo/practice, Day 4-6 ISP CAT E-H and practice transitioning to evaluation as candidates are ready. I will provide a detailed agenda before the course. We may vary the schedule if weather or other factors make it sensible to do so. If weather dictates, we can finish outside of the course dates.

PRE-COURSE PRACTICE: Let me know your needs. Note that we’ll be making practice jumps during the course.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. I suggest you take a look at the AFF section of the IRM first though…it will answer most of your questions
