July 18 - July 20
The United States Parachute Association (USPA) Coach Course is a three-day training program that prepares skydiving instructors to teach basic skydiving concepts and skills. It serves as the foundation for all other instructional ratings within USPA.
Key Aspects of the USPA Coach Course: Prerequisite: To be eligible, you must have a USPA B-license, at least 100 jumps, and be a current USPA member.
Course Content: The course covers teaching methods, lesson design, freefall and canopy skills specific to in-air instruction, and how to observe and debrief students. It also includes information on rules, regulations, liability, and resources available to coaches.
Course Structure: The course is three full days long and involves both ground and air evaluations. You’ll need to demonstrate your ability to teach specific topics and conduct debriefs.
Benefits: Upon completion, you’ll be able to teach the general sections of the first-jump course and train students for group skydiving skills, under the supervision of an instructor.
Certification: Successfully completing the course leads to a USPA Coach rating.
Materials: You’ll need a current version of the USPA Skydiver’s Information Manual (SIM) and Instructional Rating Manual (IRM).
